Take-A-Break Child Care Center was
established to provide quality care to children of parents who
need a few hours per month to search for employment, housing, keep
necessary appointments, or need a “healthy break” from daily child
care. The center provides care for children from birth to 14 years
of age. It is a community-based program open to all families in
the Battle Creek area.
Attendance: The Center can
accommodate up to 52 children a day. Slots are delegated
to full and part time children. Additional slots daily are available
for emergency and/or drop-in child care.

Tuition Assistance: Tuition
assistance is available for qualifying families through United Way
funding, a contract with the Family Independence Agency and Senior
Health Partners National Family Caregiver Support Program and
through the centers sponsoring agency Foster Adoptive Family
Resource & Support Center.
Families requesting financial assistance are
taken through a simple intake process. Proof of income can be
accomplished by producing a WIC, Bridge or Medicaid card.

To meet a family need or crisis, the center
will open earlier or stay open later. Reservations may be made up to 2 weeks in
advance or are on a first come/first serve basis. Drop-ins are
welcome without prior notice but parents should understand that
adequate staff ratios need to be met at all times. For this
reason, prior reservations are encouraged.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to provide a warm, nurturing
environment that encourages the development of the “whole child”
while fulfilling a community need.
ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENT
State licensing rules require child care
centers to have on file a child’ immunization record before
admitting the child into their care. Please bring this
information with you when you plan to use Take-A-Break services.
