Foster Adoptive Family Resource & Support Center is organized for the following purposes:

a.  To promote and enhance mutual coordination, cooperation, and communication among the foster, adoptive and kinship community;

b.  to work cooperatively with the public and private child welfare agencies in improving foster, adoptive and kinship services, permanency planning efforts, pre-placement services, and post-placement services;

c.  to encourage the recruitment, training, and retention of foster, adoptive and kinship parents;

d.  to provide resources, referrals, support, activities, understanding, friendship, and training to foster, adoptive and kinship families; and

e.  to be a communication medium between the community and foster, adoptive and kinship parents regarding matters affecting the foster, adoptive, kinship and child welfare communities.

The corporation is a nonprofit organization that will be financed under a general plan which may include, without limitation, contributions from the general public, fund raising activities, loans and grants from third parties, and all income from investments, as the Board of Directors shall deem necessary and appropriate to further the purposes of the Corporation.

The Corporation is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including such purposes, receiving and administering funds and making distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code.

The Board of Directors meets every 4th Thursday of the month at the Foster Adoptive Family Resource & Support Center located at 415 S. 28th Street, Battle Creek, MI (Behind Westlake Presbyterian Church).  The meeting begins promptly at 11:00 am.
