Our History
The Family Enrichment  Center is a grassroots non-profit agency created by foster, adoptive, and kinship parents who had a desire to help children have a successful "out of home" placement.

The idea of such a center originated over the telephone while two foster parents were discussing the needs of foster families and the "gap" in services that meet these needs. It was decided that Calhoun County needed an agency that would attempt to close these "gaps" in available services.

This idea was taken to the Calhoun County Foster Adoptive Family Support Group. This group, which had already been active for over 10 years, decided that they wanted to take a leap of faith and become Michigan's first non-profit agency designed specifically to help foster, adoptive and kinship children succeed by supporting the families who care for them.

So, in October of 1996, the Calhoun County Foster and Adoptive Family Support Group became an official non-profit agency operating under the title “Foster Adoptive Family Resource & Support Center.”

Volunteers log hundreds of hours yearly, helping foster, adoptive, and kinship families provide an "Unconditional Commitment" to children within the community. The success of the Foster Adoptive Family Resource & Support Center is a result of this "Unconditional Commitment."
